BBC Springwatch’s Iolo Williams to award younger images hopefuls

BBC Springwatch presenter Iolo Williams will give out prizes to youthful character photographers at an awards ceremony in Shrewsbury in February 2023.  

Organisers have invited photographers aged 5 to 18 to post their ideal photos to College Centre Shrewsbury’s Younger Nature Photographer of the Calendar year 2023 competition. Iolo Williams, a former RSPB Wales species officer, radio presenter, creator and wildlife tour leader, will current prizes at a particular ceremony at College Centre Shrewsbury on February 15.

The contest organisers will hand out prizes in 4 age classes, like wildlife camera traps, Shropshire Wildlife Belief memberships and other wildlife necessities, these types of as character guides, bug lodges, chook feeders and nest containers. A panel will decide the entries, which includes renowned wildlife author and photographer David Woodfall.

Dr Bethan Stallwood, a senior lecturer at UCS, claimed: “We are thrilled to see the entries as we know there are numerous proficient younger photographers out there. A superior nature photograph will not have to be taken a million miles absent – we’re significantly fascinated in people taken close to your household.

“You will find a great deal of wildlife in your back yard, from foxes and finches to badgers and beetles.”

Fascinated hopefuls really should post up to a maximum of five shots per man or woman, sending them as attachments with their identify, day of beginning and school (or stating ‘home educated’ if this is the case) in the e mail. The organisers will notify the winners by way of electronic mail by January 15 and invite them to the awards ceremony.

Dr Caitlin McQueen, a lecturer at UCS, added: “We might also enjoy to see your photographs of fungi, vegetation, bugs and spiders.
